Washington Park Real Estate

While there are a number of homes dating back to the early 1900s, the real estate in Washington Park, or “Wash Park”, spans a century’s worth of ages and building styles. There are Craftsman bungalows, Victorian homes and a smattering of Foursquare (also called Prairie Box) homes. New construction is bringing stately luxury homes that blend into the neighborhood, but that have a wealth of modern amenities. A few high-rise condos are also here, as well as condo conversions that feature condo living within classic American architecture.

Washington Park is definitely a draw for the recreation-minded Denver home buyer. The park is as nearly old as the community, designed by Reinhard Schuetze in the early 1900s and includes the two lakes and pond that still stand today. The trees he planted are now mature Russian willows that line the source for Grasmere Lake and Smith Lake as well as Lily Pond. The park also features a recreation center, sports fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, a running path and a lawn bowling green.

There are two acknowledged neighborhoods in Wash Park. Washington Park East (or simply Washington Park) is within the boundaries of 1st Ave (north), University Blvd (east), 1-25 (south) and Downing St (west). Washington Park West is within the boundaries of Cherry Creek (north), Downing St (east), I-25 (south) and Lincoln St (west).

Wash Park homes are close to shopping and dining opportunities, including the Old South Gaylord district, which has a collection of boutiques, restaurants and unique shops. The Cherry Creek Shopping Center is just a short drive away from the Wash Park neighborhood and has 169 businesses, from designer stores to popular restaurants.

Sometimes, the best way to find out if a neighbourhood is right for you is to explore it with a knowledgeable professional. Contact The Metropolitan Group at RE/MAX Unlimited to tour the latest Washington Park homes for sale.
